Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Silicolgel is an oral gel containing colloidal silicic acid, primarily used for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), heartburn, and acid reflux. It functions as an adsorbent; the colloidal particles provide a large surface area that binds to toxins, pathogens, and irritants within the stomach and intestines, facilitating their natural elimination. Additionally, the gel forms a protective film over the gastrointestinal mucosa, helping to soothe inflammation and reduce symptoms like nausea, flatulence, and abdominal pain. It is typically regulated as a Class IIa medical device.
