siLIPIN1 is an experimental small interfering RNA agent designed to knock down expression of lipin-1, a phosphatidate phosphatase and key regulator of lipid metabolism implicated in fibrosis, cancer cell proliferation, and other pathogenic processes. By selectively silencing LIPIN1 mRNA, siLIPIN1 is intended to reduce lipin-1 protein levels and thereby modulate downstream pathways such as diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 (DGAT1)-dependent lipid droplet formation and profibrotic or pro-oncogenic signaling. Preclinical data targeting lipin-1 using RNA interference strategies indicate that lipin-1 depletion can alter cell phenotype, sensitize tumor cells to agents like rapamycin, and attenuate fibrogenic gene expression, supporting siLIPIN1 as a potential therapeutic RNA interference candidate for fibrotic and oncologic indications.[7][11][18]
