**Silver diamine fluoride** is a topical inorganic silver(I)-fluoride coordination compound, commonly formulated as a 38% aqueous solution, used in dentistry to relieve dentinal hypersensitivity and to prevent or arrest dental caries. The silver component provides broad local antimicrobial activity against cariogenic microorganisms, while fluoride promotes remineralization and formation of acid-resistant fluoridated apatite in demineralized enamel and dentin. In the United States, the marketed 38% product Advantage Arrest is FDA-cleared as a prescription dental device for dentinal hypersensitivity; use for caries arrest is off-label, although it has been studied extensively, including Phase III trials in cavitated caries.
