Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Silver-nanolipid complex** is a research-stage topical nanomedicine formulation composed of antimicrobial microsilver and negatively charged nanostructured lipid carriers in an oil-in-water cream or lotion. Silver ions released from microsilver adsorb to the lipid-nanoparticle surface, producing the proposed sNLC complex; nanoparticle adhesion increases local silver-ion retention at skin and bacterial surfaces, while the lipid carriers form an occlusive lipid film that supports restoration of the damaged stratum corneum barrier. The concept was developed for mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis, particularly where abnormal bacterial colonization such as *Staphylococcus aureus* and impaired skin-barrier function contribute to disease.
