Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Silver nanomix particles are an innovative antimicrobial nanomaterial developed for wound healing and dressing applications. Created through a research collaboration between Bennet Pharmaceuticals and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Ahmedabad (NIPER-A), the nanomaterial is formulated by systematically hybridizing metallic silver nanoparticles (AgNPs, sub-15 nm) with ionic silver (Ag+). This hybridization is designed to provide both immediate antibacterial activity (via the ionic silver component) and prolonged antibacterial activity (via the silver nanoparticle reserve). The formulation has demonstrated significantly higher antibacterial potential against pathogens such as *Escherichia coli*, *Staphylococcus aureus*, and *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* compared to conventional silver products and reference antibiotics, while offering dose compliance, toxicity reduction, and cost savings.
