**Silver nanoparticle compound** is an unnamed investigational topical dental treatment studied by the Department of Paediatric Dentistry at the Faculty of Higher Studies Zaragoza, National Autonomous University of Mexico. In a randomized split-mouth study in children aged 6–7 years, a silver-nanoparticle-based compound was administered with fluoride varnish for dentinal carious lesions in primary molars. The treatment reduced lesion demineralization over 12 months and showed results comparable with a silver diamine fluoride and potassium iodide comparator. Silver nanoparticles are intended to provide local antibacterial and antibiofilm activity against cariogenic oral bacteria, while the accompanying fluoride treatment supports remineralization of demineralized tooth structure.
