Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Silver nanoparticles from Eclipta prostrata (SEP) are green-synthesized metallic nanoparticles prepared using the aqueous leaf extract of the medicinal plant *Eclipta prostrata* (Bhringaraj) as a reducing and stabilizing agent. These biogenic nanoparticles are designed to enhance the bioavailability and central nervous system penetration of neuroprotective phytochemicals. In preclinical murine models of Parkinson's disease, SEP has demonstrated neuroprotective, antiparkinsonian, and antioxidant effects, significantly ameliorating motor deficits, tardive dyskinesia, and oxidative stress by replenishing antioxidant defenses and reducing lipid peroxidation.
