The drug's mechanism of action involves the rapid formation of a stable protein-polyacrylate complex upon contact with blood proteins, particularly albumin. This process results in the creation of a mechanical barrier or clot that seals damaged vessels without relying on the patient's endogenous coagulation factors, making it effective even in the presence of coagulopathies or anticoagulant therapy. Furthermore, the presence of silver ions imparts broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties to the solution, which helps prevent secondary wound infections.
