Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GLXA is a small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by Jiangsu Coast Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, for the treatment of chronic gastritis. The active ingredient, silver protein dodecyl sulfonate, functions as a gastric mucosal protective agent and an antimicrobial. Upon administration, it forms a protective film over the gastric mucosa, shielding the stomach lining from irritation caused by gastric acid, pepsin, and other dietary factors. Furthermore, the silver ions within the complex provide antibacterial activity, which is particularly relevant for inhibiting the growth of *Helicobacter pylori*, a primary pathogen associated with chronic gastritis and peptic ulcers.
