Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SilvoGuard is a range of antimicrobial medical devices developed by WeInnovate Biosolutions, an Indian startup. These devices, which include Foley catheters, utilize the company's patented NanoAgCide technology—a colloidal silver nanoparticle-based solution. The technology is integrated into the device material to provide a sustained release of active silver ions. These ions exert broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity by disrupting bacterial cell membranes, interfering with DNA replication, and binding to essential bacterial proteins, thereby preventing bacterial adhesion and the formation of biofilms. SilvoGuard is primarily used in healthcare settings to prevent hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), such as catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).
