Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Livasafe is a hepatoprotective combination product developed and marketed by Welcure Pharma. It typically contains silymarin, a mixture of flavonolignans extracted from the milk thistle plant (*Silybum marianum*), along with a complex of B-vitamins including thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxine, and nicotinamide. Silymarin exerts its therapeutic effects by acting as an antioxidant, scavenging free radicals, and inhibiting lipid peroxidation. It also stimulates protein synthesis by increasing ribosomal RNA activity through the activation of RNA polymerase I, which facilitates liver tissue regeneration. The B-complex vitamins included in the formulation serve as essential enzymatic cofactors that support hepatic metabolic processes and cellular energy production. Livasafe is primarily indicated for the management of various liver disorders, such as fatty liver, alcoholic liver disease, chronic hepatitis, and as a supportive therapy during treatment with hepatotoxic drugs.
