SIM03

SIM03 is a novel infant microbiome formula developed by **GenieBiome** in collaboration with **The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)** and the **Microbiota I-Centre (MagIC)**. It is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of specific, naturally occurring strains of *Bifidobacterium bifidum* and *Bifidobacterium breve* identified through metagenomic big data analysis as being deficient in children with eczema. The formula utilizes a patented microencapsulation technology to protect the viability of the probiotic strains against gastric acid, ensuring their delivery to and colonization of the lower gastrointestinal tract. SIM03 is primarily developed for the treatment of **atopic dermatitis (eczema)** in preschool children (aged 1–5 years). It functions by modulating the gut-skin axis, restoring gut microbial diversity, and enriching microbial metabolic pathways involved in the synthesis of acetate and acetyl-CoA. Clinical pilot data (NCT05607511) demonstrated significant reductions in disease severity as measured by the SCORing Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) index and substantial improvements in patient quality of life.
