SIM0607 is an innovative recombinant humanized interleukin-2 (IL-2) mutant-Fc fusion protein, also known as an IL-2 mutein, developed by Shandong Simcere Medgenn (a subsidiary of Simcere Pharmaceutical). It is designed to selectively expand regulatory T cells (Tregs) to restore immune homeostasis in patients with autoimmune diseases. The molecule is engineered with specific mutations that enhance its selectivity for the high-affinity IL-2 receptor (IL-2Rαβγ) while significantly reducing its binding affinity for the low-affinity IL-2 receptor (IL-2Rβγ) found on pro-inflammatory effector T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. This selective expansion of Tregs aims to suppress pathological immune responses in conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and atopic dermatitis. SIM0607 is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in China.
