SIM0700 is an investigational antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) developed by Simcere Pharmaceutical (Jiangsu Xiansheng Re Ming Pharmaceutical) for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. The drug targets the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR, also known as CD87), a protein that is significantly upregulated on the surface of activated macrophages and other pro-inflammatory cells within the synovial tissue of patients with autoimmune conditions. By binding to uPAR, SIM0700 delivers a potent cytotoxic payload directly into these pathogenic cells, leading to their selective depletion. This targeted approach is designed to suppress the chronic inflammatory response and prevent subsequent joint and tissue destruction while minimizing the systemic side effects often associated with non-targeted immunosuppressive therapies. SIM0700 is currently in the early stages of clinical development, with IND-enabling studies and early-phase trials being conducted in China.
