Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Simeprevir + pegylated interferon + ribavirin** is a combination antiviral regimen used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 infection in adults with compensated liver disease, including cirrhosis. Simeprevir is an oral, once-daily second-generation NS3/4A protease inhibitor that blocks the protease enzyme essential for HCV replication, while pegylated interferon is an immunomodulatory agent that stimulates the antiviral immune response, and ribavirin is a nucleoside analogue that further inhibits viral replication. This combination significantly improves sustained virologic response (SVR) rates relative to dual therapy, in both treatment-naïve and treatment-experienced patients[1][2][3][4].
