simethicone + acetylcysteine + sodium bicarbonate

This combination drug is a premedication solution used primarily to improve mucosal visibility during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy). It consists of simethicone, an anti-foaming agent that reduces gas bubbles; acetylcysteine, a mucolytic agent that degrades mucus by breaking disulfide bonds; and sodium bicarbonate, which acts as a pH regulator to optimize the mucolytic activity of acetylcysteine and neutralize gastric acid. Developed by researchers at Beijing Friendship Hospital and Capital Medical University, the solution is administered orally shortly before the procedure to clear the gastric field of foam and secretions, thereby enhancing the detection of lesions such as early gastric cancer.
