simnotrelvir

**Simnotrelvir** is an orally administered, small-molecule antiviral that selectively inhibits the SARS-CoV-2 3C-like protease, also called the main protease. By blocking this viral protease, simnotrelvir prevents cleavage of viral polyproteins required for replication. It was jointly developed by Simcere Pharmaceutical, the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
