Simparica Trio

Simparica Trio is a veterinary combination drug formulated as a monthly chewable tablet for dogs. It contains three active ingredients—sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel (as embonate)—and provides broad-spectrum protection against multiple parasites. The product is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, treatment and control of roundworm (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala), flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), and tick infestations including lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum), Gulf Coast tick (Amblyomma maculatum), American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis), black-legged tick (Ixodes scapularis), and brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus). - Sarolaner is an acaricide/insecticide from the isoxazoline class that inhibits GABA- and glutamate-gated chloride channels in arthropods, causing neuromuscular hyperexcitation and death. - Moxidectin is a macrocyclic lactone endectocide that interferes with chloride channel-mediated neurotransmission in nematodes leading to paralysis and death. - Pyrantel pamoate is a tetrahydropyrimidine-class anthelmintic acting as a depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking agent in susceptible nematodes resulting in paralysis or expulsion[1][3][5][8].
