Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Simplified Yugeng tongyu decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Xiyuan Hospital. It is intended for the treatment of stable coronary heart disease (CHD), particularly in patients with a history of myocardial infarction or acute coronary syndrome who are in a stable post-treatment phase. The decoction is designed to address the TCM syndromes of stasis and obstruction within the cardiovascular system. In clinical trials, such as the multicenter study ChiCTR-TRC-13004370, it has been evaluated for its ability to reduce acute cardiovascular events when added to standard Western medical therapy. The formulation's therapeutic effects are associated with the reduction of inflammatory markers, specifically high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), suggesting an anti-inflammatory mechanism that complements conventional antiplatelet and statin treatments.
