Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Simplivir is an experimental DNA-based antiviral therapeutic developed by CytoGenix for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections. The product was designed using CytoGenix's proprietary synthetic DNA (synDNA) manufacturing technology, which aimed to produce high-purity, linear DNA sequences more efficiently than traditional plasmid-based methods. Simplivir was intended to function as either a DNA vaccine or a gene-silencing therapy to inhibit HSV replication or stimulate a targeted immune response. In 2007, CytoGenix expanded its manufacturing capabilities to support the production of Simplivir and its influenza vaccine candidates. However, the development of Simplivir appears to have been discontinued following the company's subsequent financial and legal challenges in the late 2000s.
