siMT-2A_1 is a chemically synthesized small interfering RNA (siRNA) duplex designed to target and silence the expression of the metallothionein-2A (MT-2A) isoform. Developed by researchers at the National University of Singapore, it has been utilized in preclinical research to investigate the role of MT-2A in breast cancer cell proliferation, chemoresistance, and interferon signaling. Silencing of MT-2A using siMT-2A_1 has been shown to reduce cell viability and enhance sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents such as doxorubicin in MCF-7 breast cancer cells.
