Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The SimVec-based COVID-19 vaccine is an investigational therapeutic COVID-19 vaccine developed by GeneCure Biotechnologies using the company's proprietary SimVec lentiviral delivery platform. It was designed for administration to infected patients or uninfected high-risk individuals with the goal of inducing rapid, strong cell-mediated immune responses that may help eliminate virally infected cells, prevent disease progression, and reduce viral transmission in COVID-19. The program entered first-in-human clinical testing in 2020 and represents a vaccine-focused application of the SimVec platform, which had previously been explored in HIV and hepatitis C therapeutic vaccine programs.
