Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sinarest AF is an oral fixed-dose combination therapy developed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals for the symptomatic relief of the common cold and allergic rhinitis, particularly in pediatric patients. The formulation is specifically designed to be antipyretic-free (containing no paracetamol/acetaminophen), which prevents accidental double-dosing of pain and fever reducers when multiple medications are co-administered. It contains two active pharmaceutical ingredients: chlorpheniramine maleate, a first-generation alkylamine antihistamine that acts as a competitive antagonist at the histamine H1 receptor to alleviate allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes; and phenylephrine hydrochloride, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that acts as a vasoconstrictor to reduce swelling and congestion in the nasal passages. Sinarest AF is widely marketed in India in various pediatric-friendly oral formulations, including drops and syrups.
