Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sinarest CCF New is an approved oral fixed-dose combination small-molecule drug manufactured and marketed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals. It is formulated as a capsule (including softgel) and is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with the common cold, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), and upper respiratory allergies, including dry cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and throat irritation. The combination consists of three active ingredients: chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine), dextromethorphan hydrobromide (a cough suppressant), and phenylephrine hydrochloride (a nasal decongestant). Chlorpheniramine maleate acts as an antagonist at histamine H1 receptors to alleviate allergic symptoms like sneezing and runny nose. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide acts as a sigma-1 receptor agonist and an NMDA receptor antagonist to suppress the cough reflex in the brainstem. Phenylephrine hydrochloride acts as an agonist at alpha-1 adrenergic receptors to constrict blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, thereby reducing nasal congestion.
