Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sinarest New is an approved, oral, small-molecule fixed-dose combination tablet manufactured and marketed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals. It contains three active ingredients: paracetamol (500 mg), phenylephrine hydrochloride (10 mg), and chlorpheniramine maleate (2 mg). Paracetamol acts as an analgesic and antipyretic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system, thereby reducing pain and fever. Phenylephrine is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that acts as a nasal decongestant by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages to relieve congestion and reduce swelling. Chlorpheniramine maleate is a first-generation antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors to alleviate allergy-related symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes. Sinarest New is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of the common cold, flu, and allergic rhinitis, and may also be used as an adjunct therapy in sinusitis, tonsillitis, and otitis media.
