Overview

Sinecatechins is a topical botanical drug derived from the partially purified water extract of green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis). It consists primarily of catechins (85–95% by weight), with epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg) as the major component. Sinecatechins is used for the treatment of external genital and perianal warts (condylomata acuminata) in immunocompetent adults. Its mechanism of action is not fully understood but is believed to involve antiviral activity against human papillomavirus (HPV), antioxidant effects, and possible immune system activation at the site of application. Sinecatechins does not cure HPV infection or prevent future wart outbreaks[1][3][4][5].
