Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhengqing Fengtongning sustained-release tablet is a pharmaceutical preparation containing sinomenine hydrochloride, a morphinan alkaloid derived from the medicinal plant *Sinomenium acutum*. It is primarily utilized in China for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory joint diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and Kashin-Beck disease. The drug exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, which subsequently reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β, and suppresses the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). The sustained-release formulation is designed to maintain stable therapeutic plasma levels and improve patient adherence by allowing for less frequent dosing compared to immediate-release versions.
