Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The **Sinovac 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPV23)** is a vaccine developed by Sinovac Biotech Co., Ltd. containing purified capsular polysaccharides from 23 serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6B, 7F, 8, 9N, 9V, 10A, 11A, 12F, 14, 15B, 17F, 18C, 19A, 19F, 20, 22F, 23F, 33F), which account for 85-90% of pneumococcal infections. It induces humoral immunity by stimulating B-cell production of serotype-specific IgG antibodies that opsonize bacteria for phagocytosis, providing protection against invasive pneumococcal disease, pneumonia, and bacteremia. Approved by China's NMPA for individuals aged ≥2 years, it demonstrates non-inferior immunogenicity and safety to commercial PPV23 vaccines in phase III trials, with robust antibody responses (2-fold increase rates 49.71-90.96%) persisting up to 6 years, good lot-to-lot consistency, and a favorable safety profile (mostly mild adverse reactions).[1][3][5][7][9][10]
