Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Sinovac H7N9 vaccine is an inactivated vaccine candidate developed by Sinovac Biotech to provide protection against the avian influenza A (H7N9) virus. Developed using Sinovac's established pandemic influenza vaccine platform—which also produced the Panflu (H5N1) and Panflu.1 (H1N1) vaccines—this candidate contains inactivated virus particles designed to stimulate the immune system. Its primary mechanism of action involves inducing the production of neutralizing antibodies against the viral hemagglutinin (HA) protein, thereby conferring protective immunity against H7N9 infection. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection and was developed in response to the public health threat posed by the emergence of H7N9 viruses in China in 2013.
