Overview
The Sinovac RSV mRNA vaccine is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine developed by Sinovac Biotech for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. A distinguishing feature of this candidate is its lyophilized (freeze-dried) formulation, which is designed to enhance stability and simplify cold-chain logistics compared to standard liquid mRNA vaccines. The vaccine works by delivering mRNA encoding a viral antigen—typically the prefusion-stabilized fusion (F) glycoprotein—into host cells, which then express the protein to elicit a protective immune response. As of early 2026, the vaccine is being evaluated in a Phase 1 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT07418229) to assess the safety and tolerability of low and high doses in healthy adults aged 18 years and older.
