Overview

siNRP-1 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of Neuropilin-1 (NRP-1). NRP-1 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as a co-receptor for various ligands, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1), and is implicated in tumor progression, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and autophagy. In preclinical models of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), siNRP-1 has been shown to reverse chemoresistance to gemcitabine by suppressing TGFβ1-induced EMT and inhibiting autophagy flux. By reducing NRP-1 protein levels, the treatment promotes apoptosis and restores sensitivity to chemotherapy in resistant pancreatic cancer cell lines.
