Overview

Combination therapy consisting of sintilimab, a fully recombinant human IgG4 anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody, and axitinib, a second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3). Sintilimab works by binding to PD-1, blocking its interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby restoring the endogenous antitumor T-cell response. Axitinib prevents angiogenesis and blocks tumor growth by inhibiting VEGFR signaling. This combination has shown promising efficacy in various types of renal cell carcinoma, including advanced fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma (FH-dRCC), locally advanced renal cell carcinoma, and metastatic chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (ChRCC).
