siR-β-catenin (small interfering RNA targeting β-catenin) is a research-use-only double-stranded RNA molecule designed to silence the expression of the β-catenin gene (CTNNB1) via RNA interference (RNAi). β-catenin is a key intracellular signal transducer in the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and a structural component of cadherin-based cell-cell adhesion junctions. In research settings, siR-β-catenin is used to investigate the role of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in cellular processes such as proliferation, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and drug resistance (e.g., to cisplatin) in various cancers, including breast cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma.
