Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Siravimab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody (IgG1 kappa) directed against the rabies virus glycoprotein. It is designed for passive immunization as part of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) following suspected exposure to the rabies virus. By binding to and neutralizing the virus at the site of entry, siravimab prevents the virus from infecting the peripheral nervous system and migrating to the central nervous system. Originally developed by Synermore Biologics as part of a combination therapy (SYN023), siravimab is being developed as a monotherapy injection by China Medical System Holdings (CMS). It is intended to provide a safer, more consistent, and more scalable alternative to traditional human or equine rabies immune globulin (RIG). The drug is currently under regulatory review in China for use in both adult and pediatric populations.
