siRhoB-3 is an experimental small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to specifically target and silence the expression of the RhoB (Ras homolog family member B) gene. RhoB is a member of the Rho GTPase family that plays a complex role in cell signaling, often implicated in the malignant progression of various cancers. In cervical cancer research, siRhoB-3 is utilized to demonstrate that RhoB knockdown inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while enhancing apoptosis. Furthermore, silencing RhoB with siRhoB-3 has been shown to increase the sensitivity of cancer cells to cisplatin, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target or sensitizing agent in combination therapies. It acts by modulating the expression of markers associated with the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), such as E-cadherin and Vimentin, and reducing levels of matrix metalloproteinases like MMP2 and MMP9.
