Overview

Sirivumab is a recombinant human monoclonal antibody developed by Hainan Kangzhe Weisheng Technology, a subsidiary of Kangzhe Pharmaceutical (CMS), for passive immunization against the rabies virus. It functions by specifically binding to and neutralizing the rabies virus glycoprotein (G protein), which is essential for viral attachment and entry into host cells. By neutralizing the virus at the site of exposure, sirivumab prevents the progression of the virus to the central nervous system. It is intended for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in individuals suspected of being exposed to the rabies virus, including both adults and pediatric patients (aged 2-18 years). As a monoclonal antibody, sirivumab provides a standardized and potentially safer alternative to traditional blood-derived products like human rabies immunoglobulin (HRIG).
