Overview

siRNA-4 is a specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) sequence utilized in preclinical research to target and silence the expression of Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 2 (IGFBP2). In the context of ovarian cancer studies, siRNA-4 has been employed to investigate the role of IGFBP2 in promoting tumor cell invasion and migration. By binding to the complementary sequence of IGFBP2 mRNA, siRNA-4 facilitates its cleavage and degradation via the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), thereby reducing the levels of the IGFBP2 protein. This experimental agent has helped identify IGFBP2 as a potential therapeutic target in malignancies where it is overexpressed, such as ovarian cancer.
