Overview

siRNA against AFTPH is a research-grade small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the Aftiphilin (AFTPH) gene. AFTPH is a protein involved in membrane trafficking and is a downstream target of microRNA-133a; its expression is notably reduced in colonic tissues of patients with ulcerative colitis and in experimental colitis models. In vitro studies using human colonic epithelial cells (such as NCM460) have demonstrated that transient silencing of AFTPH leads to impaired epithelial barrier function and altered actin organization, characterized by a decreased F-/G-actin ratio and activation of the p70S6K kinase. This siRNA serves as a critical tool for investigating the molecular mechanisms of intestinal homeostasis and the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel diseases.
