Overview

siRNA against gC1qR is a small interfering RNA used primarily as a research tool to investigate the molecular mechanisms of intestinal cell differentiation. It specifically targets the C1q binding protein (C1QBP), also known as gC1qR, which is essential for maintaining mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). In studies related to ulcerative colitis, this siRNA has been used to demonstrate that the loss of gC1qR-mediated OXPHOS impairs the expression of goblet cell differentiation factors like KLF4, leading to goblet cell depletion and mucosal inflammation. It is not currently a clinical-stage therapeutic but serves as a critical reagent for understanding metabolic switches in gut health.
