siRNA against LRP8 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 8 (LRP8, also known as apolipoprotein E receptor 2 or apoER2). LRP8 is a cell-surface receptor that is frequently overexpressed or amplified in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and other estrogen receptor-negative breast cancers. Silencing LRP8 with siRNA inhibits the ApoE-LRP8/VLDLR signaling axis, leading to decreased cell proliferation, increased apoptosis, and suppression of breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs) and tumorigenesis, particularly under nutrient-depleted conditions. It has been studied primarily in preclinical research as a potential therapeutic target for TNBC.
