siRNA against PKR is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 2-Alpha Kinase 2 (EIF2AK2), commonly known as PKR. PKR is an interferon-inducible protein kinase that regulates protein synthesis and apoptosis in response to viral infection and cellular stress. In preclinical studies, particularly those conducted at the University of Florida, siRNA-mediated knockdown of PKR has been used to demonstrate that the loss of PKR function promotes leukemia progression by inhibiting apoptosis through the activation of Bcl-2 and reduction of PP2A activity. This agent is primarily utilized as a research tool to investigate the molecular mechanisms of hematological malignancies.
