siRNA against pyk2 refers to small interfering RNA molecules designed to silence the expression of Protein Tyrosine Kinase 2 beta (Pyk2), also known as PTK2B or focal adhesion kinase 2 (FAK2). Pyk2 is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a critical role in cellular processes such as migration, proliferation, and survival, particularly in the context of the tumor microenvironment. Research presented at AACR 2024 indicates that Pyk2 signaling is involved in the regulation of PD-L1 expression in glioblastoma (GBM) cells. The use of siRNA to knock down Pyk2 in primary human GBM cells resulted in a 50% decrease in PD-L1 expression, suggesting that Pyk2 is a viable therapeutic target for modulating immunosuppression in GBM and potentially enhancing the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors.
