siRNA against SENP2 is a small interfering RNA designed to knock down the expression of SUMO-specific peptidase 2 (SENP2). SENP2 is a deconjugating enzyme involved in the SUMOylation pathway, which regulates protein activity post-translationally. Research conducted at Academia Sinica has identified a reduction of SENP2 in B cells from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Experimental knockdown of SENP2 using siRNA in human B cells leads to increased IgG antibody production, suggesting that SENP2 plays a role in restraining B-cell differentiation and antibody production. This siRNA is primarily used as a research tool to investigate the pathogenesis of SLE and the regulation of germinal center responses.
