siRNA-CHK is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to transiently down-regulate Choline kinase (Chk), an enzyme responsible for converting choline to phosphocholine. Chk is often elevated in cancer cells, making it a potential therapeutic target. Studies have shown that siRNA-CHK can decrease phosphocholine levels and inhibit the proliferation of breast cancer cells, particularly when combined with the anticancer drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). This approach aims to enhance the effect of anticancer drugs in malignant cells while having minimal impact on non-malignant cells.
