Drug intelligence / Profile preview
siRNA-expressing plasmid DNA targeting G6Pase is an experimental gene therapy designed to lower blood glucose levels in diabetic models. It consists of a plasmid DNA vector that expresses small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase), a key enzyme in hepatic gluconeogenesis. By silencing G6Pase expression in the liver, the therapy aims to inhibit hepatic glucose production and reduce fasting blood glucose levels. It has been investigated in preclinical research, specifically in alloxan-induced diabetic mice, by researchers at Chosun University.
