siRNA-GPR84 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of G protein-coupled receptor 84 (GPR84). Research presented at ECCO 2025 indicates that GPR84 is significantly upregulated in the intestinal CD68+ macrophages of patients with Ulcerative Colitis (UC). By targeting GPR84 mRNA for degradation, this siRNA transiently silences the receptor's expression, which in turn reduces the secretion of key proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-8 and IL-1β. This mechanism highlights GPR84 as a potential therapeutic target for managing the chronic immune response associated with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
