siRNA targeting PRSS8 is a short interfering RNA molecule designed to silence the expression of the **PRSS8** gene, which encodes the serine protease **prostasin**. In the context of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) research, this siRNA has been utilized as a laboratory tool to investigate the role of PRSS8 as a tumor suppressor. Studies have shown that PRSS8 expression is often downregulated in ESCC due to promoter hypermethylation, and restoring its expression inhibits cancer cell proliferation and migration. siRNA-mediated knockdown of PRSS8 is used in these experimental models to reverse the inhibitory effects of PRSS8 restoration, thereby confirming its functional significance in regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cell cycle progression.
