Overview

siRNA targeting Pyk2 is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of Proline-rich tyrosine kinase 2 (Pyk2), also known as Protein tyrosine kinase 2 beta (PTK2B). Pyk2 is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that is activated by various stimuli, including the insulin-like growth factor receptor I (IGF-IR). In urothelial carcinoma (bladder cancer), Pyk2 is often overexpressed and plays a critical role in promoting cell motility and invasion. Silencing Pyk2 using siRNA approaches has been shown to inhibit IGF-I-dependent activation of the Akt and MAPK pathways, which are essential for the establishment of an invasive phenotype in cancer cells. This agent is primarily utilized as a research tool to investigate the role of Pyk2 in oncogenesis and to validate it as a potential therapeutic target in invasive bladder cancer.
