siRNA targeting TFPI2 refers to a class of small interfering RNA molecules designed to silence the expression of the Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor 2 (TFPI2) gene. TFPI2 is a Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor primarily localized in the extracellular matrix, where it regulates various physiological processes, including blood coagulation, inflammation, and matrix remodeling, by inhibiting proteases such as plasmin, trypsin, and the factor VIIa/tissue factor complex. In oncology research, TFPI2 is frequently identified as a tumor suppressor that is epigenetically silenced in many aggressive cancers; consequently, siRNA-mediated knockdown is a common laboratory technique used to investigate the functional impact of TFPI2 loss on tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. While these siRNA molecules are widely available as research-use-only (RUO) reagents from various biotechnology suppliers, there are currently no specific TFPI2-targeting siRNA assets in clinical development for human therapeutic use.
