siRNA-XIST is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) known as X-inactive specific transcript (XIST). While XIST is fundamentally responsible for X-chromosome inactivation in female mammals, its aberrant overexpression has been implicated in the pathogenesis and progression of various human cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), breast cancer, and lung cancer. siRNA-XIST works by utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, where it is loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to guide the sequence-specific cleavage and degradation of XIST transcripts. In preclinical research, the knockdown of XIST via siRNA has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and to sensitize cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents by modulating various signaling pathways and microRNA networks.
